The Snow Queen’s Magic Trunk Show Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales brought to life!
An old trunk sits still atop a beautiful draped table, apparently unmoving for ages. Then something happens, the magical trunk begins to wake up! On the front of the trunk the face of a noble lion stretches as he sleepily yawns. “Can’t an old trunk get any sleep around here?” He asks with a voice that has not been used in over a hundred years!
It is the Snow Queen who has awoken him; it’s story time! What mysteries and treasures lie secreted away inside the old trunk? The Snow Queen is determined to find out. More than a little reluctant at first, the trunk finally begins to revel his secrets through several draws and openings.
First out is a surprising creature who calls himself Cecil the Sea Serpent. He claims to be from The Little Mermaid, but noone remembers reading about a sea serpent in that fairy tale. Next comes the Nightingale, followed by the ballerina from the Steadfast Tin Soldier. She makes a grand appearance as she spins around and around on top of the trunk. A red shoe slips out of an opening in the front of the trunk, only to be followed by a pea that shoots straight up into the air! The Snow Queen uses the pea to test an audience member to see if she is a princess. The top of the trunk must be opened, for the next item is far too large to fit out any of the smaller openings.
It’s The Ugly Duckling! The Snow Queen and the Ugly Duckling decide to tell the story of the Ugly Duckling. By show's end the Ugly Duckling has transformed into a beautiful swan!
